  • Mixed feelings!

I have such mixed feelings with summer ending.  I love vacation from teaching full-time. It is so fabulous.  So in 2 weeks when I'm back to the daily grind I will miss my blessed summer vacation...

But it also means that summer is gone so...it's that much closer to our wedding....

    so really I'm super excited!

    Summer!

I love summer.  It is fabulous being a teacher.  It makes all the wildness of crazy children for 9 1/2 months a year all worth the two months off!  It's fabulous. :)

I just got back from a week of youth camp with the mid and high school at my church.  We went to John Brown University in Siloam Springs, AR for a week-long camp.  It was the hottest week of the whole year...HOT.  But we had air conditioning so I can't complain at all!!  It was an awesome time to hang out with kids and share with them the love of Christ.  I loved being with my 7th grade girls that week and getting know them.  It was also wonderful doing it alongside Raul.  We were on a team together for some of the small group stuff and I loved being able to do ministry with him.  Gave me a picture of how our life will be.  I hope to do youth camp stuff with him in the future.  I'm excited for what the Lord will do with him!!

Wedding plans are going nicely. I'm really not wanting to turn it into a huge built up day that's all about me and Raul.  It's not about the big day it's just a ceremony to unite us for a lifetime together.  But I am involving like our entire families so naturally it turns into a big deal when working with so many people.  I'm just ready to be married and be with him.  But this is like a natural rite of passage for people so I am enjoying the process at the same time.  Less than five months now!!  :) :)

In other news my debt is almost almost done!!  Paying off a private college debt of 3 1/2 years and paying for grad school has taken over 2 years now...but I know it'll be worth it.  And when we get married we'll have no debt which is super important to us.

We're looking into apartments now instead of houses.  The tax credit thing for first time buyers is very appealing to us but we just don't need a house yet.  If the perfect one comes along in our price range and with little problems with it we might jump on it.  But I'm not stressing about it.  It'll come in its time if supposed to.  I'm excited for whatever happens!

Well I'm off to teach some piano lessons and read my awesome book series I just got into.  The Redemption series by Karen Kingbury!  Oh my goodness they are amazing!  Totally recommend them!!!!

    :)

  • Big Kid?

I'm like officially a big kid.

We're looking to purchase a home.  I'll be a home-owner.  Crazy.  I'm going through the whole pre-approval for a loan, looking at homes...the whole bit.  It's wild.

And getting really into planning the wedding now too.  My time has freed up a lot since I'm done with school and the musical.  Work (school) gets out the last week of May so we are winding down a lot here too.

I feel like I'm really a big kid.  I'm not afraid of it though.  The commitment (marriage...and house) doesn't scare me.  I feel good about it all.  It's nice to be where I am actually.  Looking forward to all the new steps the Lord will be taking me down :)  It's a wonderful journey!

  • Monday Monday

I'm done!  :)  No more school for long time, if ever, for me. :)

It's interesting how highly esteemed 'higher education' is in our culture.  I have nothing against it, by any means.  I think it's great, especially as a teacher to learn how to better teach the youth of today.  Raul is taking a US History course right now that went into The Great Enlightenment vs. The Great Awakening.  Higher education (such as Harvard, Yale) was formed so people in the United States could move away from depending on knowledge from God and seek other means of educating themselves.  At my graduation ceremony Friday night this was very much reflected.  It's all about honoring the institution and the person gaining the degree.  Nothing about how the knowledge itself comes from God and being thankful for that.  This was just something Raul and I were discussing last night...thought I'd share it.  Thoughts?
